Rajasthan University gets new vice chancellor

Jaipur: Vice Chancellor of Bhavnagar University in Gujarat, B.L. Sharma was appointed as the vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University by the acting governor of the state, Shivraj
Patil on Sunday.
55 year old Prof. Sharma had earlier been the head of the Human Rights Law Department in the Law Faculty at Saurashtra University, Rajkot. He had also served as the Viec
Chancellor of Bhavnagar University in Gujarat since July, 2009.
Hailing from Jodhpur, Prof. Sharma has been teaching for the past 27 years and has also been associated with various committees of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Prof.
Sharma has earlier taught in government colleges at Sikar and Pali.
Rajasthan state governor Shivraj Patil is the Chancellor of some universities in the state. He had issued the orders for the appointment of Prof. Sharma on the recommendation of
a search committee that had been given the task of choosing a new vice chancellor for the varsity after Prof. Furqan Qamar had resigned in 2009.
Apart from being an honorary visitor at Gujarat National Law University in Gandhinagar, Prof. Sharma has also served as a lawyer in the Rajasthan High Court between 1977 and
1980.
